About the species
Tamarins are squirrel-sized New World monkeys, with bodies of around 18 to 30 centimetres and tails of 25 to 44 centimetres. They live in the forests of South and Central America.
They are monogamous and usually have twins. Unusually for primates, the father carries the infants for most of the time.
